Prop 411 Passes: Thank you, Marana Staff & Community
Prop 411 Passes - Thank you for your Vote!

MUSD Staff and Families,

I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to you and our community members for supporting the Marana Unified School District by voting “Yes” on Proposition 411, our School Budget Maintenance and Override proposal.

The successful passage of Proposition 411 increases our current override from 10% to 15%. As outlined in the voter pamphlet, the renewal of the existing override will allow us to continue to offer full-day kindergarten, elementary and secondary school electives, access to counselors and protect class sizes. Additionally, the approved increase of approximately $5 million will be used for people, specifically to increase teacher and support staff salaries and wages.

By investing in our teachers and support staff, our students will undoubtedly receive more personalized attention leading to better educational outcomes. The passage of Proposition 411 also allows the district to maintain and expand educational opportunities for our students. This includes free full-day kindergarten, fine arts, a great selection of relevant electives, extracurricular activities outside the classroom, and more. Additionally, Proposition 411 will allow us to remain competitive in southern Arizona and better assist us with recruiting and retaining high-quality educators through increased salaries and wages. As a greater community, we will undoubtedly benefit from this investment.

The District and Administration extend heartfelt thanks to the override’s Citizen Committee, the MUSD Parent Partnership, our school’s Parent-Teacher Organizations, and the volunteering teachers, administrators, and staff. We would also like to recognize the efforts of the Marana Education Association (MEA), which worked tirelessly to lead and rally the support of our community, talking to neighbors and spending countless personal hours educating others about the importance of the override’s passage. They showed up on weekends and after hours, at community events, and maybe even knocked on a door in your neighborhood to help raise awareness and garner support. We could not have been successful without their efforts, and we are grateful for your advocacy.

Thank you to the Marana community for supporting the Marana Unified School District. I am confident that the quality of education we provide our students has never been higher, and I am humbled to be a part of it.

In gratitude,

Dan Streeter
Superintendent
