All MUSD Schools Celebrated as HRS Level 1 Certified

All Marana Unified schools were recognized by Dr. Robert Marzano and Dr. Phil Warrick for earning High Reliability Schools (HRS) Level One School Certification (Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Schools) at the HRS Summit in San Antonio, TX this January!  Additionally, the Marana Unified School District was recognized for earning HRS Level One District Certification.

In person to accept the recognition was Kristin Reidy, Assistant Superintendent, Josh Bayne, Executive Director of State and Federal Programs, Tawnya Caldwell, DeGrazia Elementary School Principal, Caitlyn Kauffman, Marana High School Principal, Vanessa Scafede, Picture Rocks Elementary School Principal, and Delia McCraley, Mountain View High School Principal.

The Marzano HRS framework serves as a long-term strategic planning guide for schools and districts. Rather than constantly seeking new initiatives, leaders are encouraged to concentrate their school improvement efforts on five key areas: (Level 1) Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture, (Level 2) Effective Teaching in Every Classroom, (Level 3) Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, (Level 4) Standards-Referenced Reporting, and (Level 5) Competency-Based Education.

The HRS program was created by Marzano Resources to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. Using the research-based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor, and confirm the effectiveness of their schools.
