Nancie Kolden

Mrs. Kolden is one of our School Counselors. She works with all students through classroom lessons that focus on students learning positive problem solving skills, gaining a better understanding of the PRE Soar with 4, and life skills that students will need as they continue to grow and learn. This is her 13th year as the school counselor at Picture Rocks Elementary. Previously, she worked as a school counselor with Mountain View High School - and overall has over 22 years of counseling experience.  Additionally, Mrs. Kolden currently is a professor at Northern Arizona University and Grand Canyon University helping to develop new and upcoming school counselors.

Mrs. Kolden holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Prescott College, her Master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Grand Canyon University. In addition to her experience within the school setting, Mrs. Kolden has also worked providing in home counseling services for foster and adopted children/families, and as an educator for the U.S. Army, providing education on domestic violence and child abuse prevention to soldiers.    

Mrs. Kolden has been married for 26 years and has four grown children with two of them having graduated from the Marana School District and living in the Tucson area. Some of her favorite things to do include hanging out with family, completing jigsaw puzzles, and doing charity work through her sorority Beta Sigma Phi.

Kevin Dix

Mr. Dix is one of our School Counselors, and he takes on the role of Behavioral Interventionist. This is his 7th year in this role and his 9th year at Picture Rocks, with 26 years of teaching experience.  Mr. Dix holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, and received his Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2016.  His K-8 teaching certificate includes endorsements in Reading and ESL (English as a  Second Language).  Mr. Dix has taught all elementary grade levels from Kindergarten through 8th grade in three different school districts over his 26 years.   

Mr. Dix just celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary and has two grown children living in the Tucson area. His favorite hobbies are riding his mountain bike in the desert and paddling around quiet lakes on his kayak.
